Baggage transportation policy for flights operated by Bulgaria Air
Free baggage transportation
All Bulgaria Air passengers are entitled to carry free hand baggage on board and checked baggage (in the aircraft's baggage compartment) depending on the selected fare. The free norms for the number and weight of baggage may differ, depending on the class of travel /business or economy/,as well as on the fare at which the ticket was issued. Carriage of baggage on scheduled flights is also subject to certain general rules and policies of Bulgaria Air, which you should bear in mind.
Check-in baggage tariffs
Each passenger who has purchased a ticket at Economy HAND BAG fare (with hand baggage only included) is entitled to carry free baggage in the cabin of the aircraft as follows:

For flights FB 1452 and FB 1451 on the Riga – Sofia – Riga route, operated by Air Baltic, the following hand baggage rules apply:
- Business class – 2 pcs. cabin baggage up to 8 kg with dimensions 55/40/20 cm. The sum of these three dimensions (length/height/width) must not exceed 115 cm. A handbag or a laptop with dimensions 30/40/10 cm.
- Economy class – 1 piece of cabin baggage up to 8 kg with dimensions 55/40/20 cm. The sum of these three dimensions (length/height/width) must not exceed 115 cm. A handbag or a laptop with dimensions 30/40/10 cm.

Every passenger who has purchased a ticket at a fare with check-in baggage included is entitled to carry free baggage in the aircraft's baggage compartment as follows:

- Business class – 2 pcs. baggage with total weight of 46 kg + 1 piece of a sports equipment with maximum weight of 20 kg
- Economy class – 1 piece of check-in baggage up to 23 kg

Babies 0-2 years | If the ticket of the adult accompanying the baby is issued at a fare with checked baggage included, the baby is entitled to 1 piece of checked baggage up to 10kg. Strollers are transported free of charge, but they must be handed over and received immediately upon boarding/disembarking the aircraft.
The airline is not liable for damage resulting from transportation on the baggage conveyor belts, in case the stroller is not handed over/received on/from the aircraft. |

**Members of the CCB Club program can benefit from the service only in cases where their ticket was issued via the airline's website, mobile app or offices in the country or abroad. The service does not apply to tickets issued at a rate without checked baggage.
*** If your tickets were paid for on the company's website in cases of: possession of a FLY MORE gold card, membership in the CCB Club program or for tickets paid for with a co-branded card from CCB and Bulgaria Air or a Visa Platinum card from CCB, you need to contact us at e-mail callfb@air.bg to reissue the ticket with the right to 2 pieces of free baggage.
*** To take advantage of our mariners' carriage conditions, the ticket must be issued under a special mariners' fare. For more information and booking you can contact the Customer Service Centre at callfb@air.bg, the airline's offices at home and abroad, as well as through the agent network. Possession of CCB Club, CCB Visa Platinum, CCB and Bulgaria Air co-branded cards and FLY MORE Gold Card does not entitle to free additional checked baggage when the ticket is issued on a no baggage fare. The entitlement to two pieces of baggage for FLY MORE Gold and CCB Club cardholders and for tickets paid for with a Bulgaria Air and CCB co-branded card and a CCB Visa Platinum card is only for flights where Bulgaria Air is the operating carrier.

Passengers who wish to travel with more baggage than the free baggage allowance according to the fare and class of the ticket issued to them may pay for additional baggage as follows:

• at the airport before the flight When travelling from any of the Greek destinations (Athens or Heraklion), additional checked baggage can be requested only through the ticket issuer or through the Customer Service Center by e-mail at callfb@air.bg. The indicated amounts are non-refundable. Possession of CCB Club cards, Visa Platinum card from CCB, co-branded card from CCB and Bulgaria Air, as well as FLY MORE gold card does not entitle to free checked baggage at the no baggage rate.

Baggage weighing over 32 kg can only be transported as cargo.
When travelling from any of the Greek destinations (Athens or Heraklion), additional checked baggage can be requested only through the ticket issuer or through the Customer Service Center by e-mail at callfb@air.bg.
Special category baggages
Sports equipment | Ski, snowboard and golf equipment can be requested and paid for online during the booking process or after purchasing a ticket - via the "Check Booking" option. Fees:
*The transportation fee from Tel Aviv is in USD, from Zurich in CHF, from London in GBP. Passengers on fares allowing check-in baggage may carry 1 piece of ski or snowboard equipment instead of 1 piece of standard checked baggage. The bag/suitcase with the equipment can be up to 280 cm in total size (length+height+width) and weigh up to 23 kg. If the equipment is in addition to checked baggage, standard fees apply. The equipment kit must contain only: one pair of skis/snowboard, one pair of poles and one pair of ski boots. Otherwise registration may be refused. At some airports, registration of sports equipment takes place in a separate area and takes longer. |
Bicycle | Accepted for shipment only packed (in cardboard or special case).Maximum package dimensions 160 x 90 x 25 cm. The service must be requested and paid for in advance. Otherwise it will be refused at the airport. Fees:

Weapons | The carriage of firearms and ammunition is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Weapons may only be carried on flights operated by Bulgaria Air. The carriage of firearms cannot be confirmed in cases where Bulgaria Air is a partner on the flight. If the service has not been requested and paid for in advance, carriage of weapons may be refused at the airport. Only sporting weapons and ammunition are carried. Carriage of other firearms and ammunition is prohibited. In some cases, the carriage of firearms and ammunition for hunting purposes may be allowed. The passenger must contact Bulgaria Air and provide information on the type of weapon, its serial number and ammunition to be entered into the reservation system. All firearms and ammunition will only be accepted as baggage to be transported in the hold of the aircraft and never in the passenger cabin. They must be individually and appropriately packed and the weight of the ammunition must not exceed 5 kg. The passenger must be in possession of all documents required by law and regulations applicable to the transport for the country concerned. "Bulgaria Air reserves the right to refuse carriage of firearms and ammunition. Fees apply for permitted sporting weapons as follows: - Hunting rifles and cartridges - set up to 15 kg.
- Hunting rifles and cartridges - total weight over 15 kg.

This type of baggage is not included in the free allowance and the fee applies regardless of whether the passenger has other checked baggage |
Pets in the passenger cabin /PETC/ | Only dogs and cats are accepted with a maximum combined weight of the animal and cage of 8kg**. Maximum cage dimensions - 48 x 35 x 22 cm**, and cannot be included in the passenger's free baggage allowance. Fees:
*Fare from Tel Aviv in USD, from Zurich in CHF. The service is only available for direct flights operated by the airline. "Bulgaria Air does not accept animals for carriage to/from the UK. The airline reserves the right to refuse boarding if the pet quota is exhausted, so we recommend that the service is requested and paid for in advance. Passengers wishing to avail of the service must read the instructions on pet carriage in advance and comply with all the terms of Regulation 576/2013.

Animals with a total container weight of more than 25kg are not accepted for carriage to/from Brussels. Fighting and dangerous breeds are accepted for carriage as cargo only (e.g. American Pit Bull Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Bull Terrier , American Bulldog, Dogo Argentino, Kangal, Anatolian Shepherd, Caucasian Shepherd, Rottweiler, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Doberman, Cane Corso, etc.). Conditions for transporting animals in the aircraft baggage compartment: -The transport container must be large enough for the animal to stand in its natural position, be able to turn over and lie down. -The transport container must be designed to prevent leakage of liquids, e.g. lined with absorbent material such as a blanket -The container must be resistant to escape attempts. Sturdy plastic or wooden containers of harmless and non-toxic material are recommended. Wire mesh cages are not allowed -To avoid injury to the animal, the inside of the container must not have sharp corners, edges or nails. -Transport containers must have ventilation holes on all four sides. Passengers wishing to travel with a pet (dog or cat) must familiarise themselves in advance with the instructions for the carriage of pets and comply with all the conditions of Regulation 576/2013. |
Products of animal origin | Imports of products of animal origin into the European Union are subject to strict animal health control procedures. Due to the risk of introducing diseases into the European Union through products of animal origin containing pathogens and causing infectious animal diseases, the importation into the European Union of: meat, meat products, milk and milk products for personal consumption is prohibited. Exceptions are allowed for the following product categories: Baby milk powder, baby and special foods necessary for health reasons, provided that they are packaged proprietary branded products, do not require refrigeration before opening and their overall packaging is intact. Meat, meat products, milk or dairy products for personal consumption from the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland with a total weight of less than 5 kg. Meat, meat products, milk or milk products for personal consumption from Andorra, Norway and San Marino. Other quantities of meat, meat products, milk or milk products may be imported by a passanger into the Community only if: -They are accompanied by the necessary documents from the official veterinary and health authorities of the country of origin confirming that the goods meet the requirements for importation into the European Union. -The passanger declares all such goods and present the documents on arrival at an authorised EU border inspection post for veterinary checks. -Meat, meat products, milk and dairy products not complying with these rules must be handed over on arrival at the border for official destruction. -Failure to declare such products may result in a fine or criminal charge. Passengers are allowed to import food of animal origin other than: meat, meat products, milk and milk products weighing up to 1 kg without being handed over for inspection. |
Amounts paid for these services are non-refundable. Instructions for transporting a pet Pets may be transported under the following conditions:
- Their transport is not commercially related
- They must be at least 6 months old
- They must be tagged
- They must have a rabies vaccine At the time of flight check-in, the pet's documents will be thoroughly checked. The passport must be in the prescribed form with all the necessary details:
- Chip or tattoo number
- Place of insertion (in the animal's body)
- Date of chip insertion
- Name
- Species, breed, sex
- Date of birth
- Owner's details
- Veterinarian
- Details of rabies vaccine administered
- Date of rabies antibody blood test
- Regulation 576/2013 is mandatory for all EU member states. Other baggage conditions may apply for mixed services involving Bulgaria Air and other partner airlines on the route.
Damaged baggage
In the event of damage to your baggage or partial missing contents, you must report it on arrival to the Baggage Claims Department at the relevant airport and prior to clearance, where a Damage Report will be prepared. In order to have the damage to your baggage repaired or compensated in the event that it cannot be repaired, it is necessary to submit a baggage claim on the Complaints and Claims Platform. You need to provide a scan of the Damage Report within 7 days after it was issued. Claims must be accompanied by the following original/scanned documents:
- Damage Report
- Impossible Repair Report, if applicable
- Boarding passes
- Baggage tag(s)
- Bank Account/IBAN/SWIFT CODE
Delayed baggage
In the event of delayed/lost baggage, you must inform the Baggage Claims Department at the relevant airport on arrival prior to clearance, where a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) will be issued. You will need to complete our online Complaints and Claims Platform. within 21 days of the Property Irregularity Report (PIR) being issued. Complaints must be accompanied by the following original/scanned documents:

- Receipt for paid excess baggage fee (if any)
- Bank Account/IBAN/SWIFT CODE
