Flight schedule to Madrid
Madrid is one of the most magnificent European capitals - with wide boulevards, many squares, parks and palaces. It is located in the very center of Spain - it is there that the monument of the zero kilometer is located, from which the measurement of the length of the roads in the country begins.
Here are the symbols of all Spain - Cervantes with Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, the Royal Palace - the official residence of the Spanish kings; one of the most important fine art museums in the world Prado with the paintings of Goya, Velázquez, Rubens; the famous Gran Via shopping street and the modern art galleries – Reina Sofia with works by Miró, Dali, Picasso and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museum.
After being greeted by the Puerta del Sol, once the gateway to Madrid, you can head to the Plaza Mayor, one of the city's crowded places. Royal ceremonies and jousting tournaments were once watched from the square's balconies, and the many establishments are wonderful for a morning coffee, afternoon break or dinner. Also stroll through the Retiro Park, 1.4 sq km of lush beauty – palaces, rose gardens, fountains, sculptures and monuments.
Football fans are waiting for Estadio Santiago Bernabéu - the stadium of Real Madrid, which is rated by UEFA with 5 stars, and its capacity is 85,454 seats.
An interesting fact about the Spanish capital is that its ancient Roman name is Ursaria ("land of bears") - the reason for this was the large number of bears in the area in the past.
For fans of cultural events, we recommend Teatro Lope de Vega - host of the most successful musicals on the Madrid stage, including Mamma Mia!, Jesus Christ Superstar and Les Miserables. If you visit Madrid in the summer, you will invariably be part of the Madrid Summer Feast - Veranos de la villa - the city's longest-running event with a varied program of music, dance performances and open-air cinema.
