Also stroll through the Retiro Park, 1.4 sq km of lush beauty – palaces, rose gardens, fountains, sculptures and monuments.

Football fans are waiting for Estadio Santiago Bernabéu - the stadium of Real Madrid, which is rated by UEFA with 5 stars, and its capacity is 85,454 seats.

An interesting fact about the Spanish capital is that its ancient Roman name is Ursaria ("land of bears") - the reason for this was the large number of bears in the area in the past.

If you visit Madrid in the summer, you will invariably be part of the Madrid Summer Feast - Veranos de la villa - the city's longest-running event with a varied program of music, dance performances and open-air cinema.
