Sofia is the capital and the largest city in Bulgaria. It is located in Western Bulgaria at the foot of the Vitosha mountain and is the main administrative, industrial, transport and university center of the country.

The city is among the preferred destinations for congress tourism and exhibitions - the many business centers offer a variety of opportunities. The National Palace of Culture, for example, often hosts business forums and exhibitions.

In the vicinity of Sofia - mainly in the nearby Vitosha, Lozenska and Stara planina mountains, many monasteries were built over the centuries, which form the so-called "Sofia's Holy Forest". Today, the Dragalevski, Lozenski, Germanski, Kremikovski, Cherepishki, Osenovlaski and other monasteries are accessible.

In winter, Vitosha Mountain is a favorite place for skiers and snowboarders, and in summer it is among the most preferred places for picnics and hiking. The "Vitosha" nature park - the oldest on the Balkan Peninsula - is located within the limits of the mountain. Among the sights that you should not miss during your visit to Sofia are: St. Alexander Nevsky Temple-Memorial, St. Sophia Church, St. Petka Samardzhiyska Church, Ivan Vazov National Theater, National Palace of culture (NDK), the National Archaeological Institute with a museum at the BAS, the National History Museum, the National Museum "Earth and People", Lion's Bridge, Eagle's Bridge, etc. Take a walk through Sofia's beautiful parks and gardens - South Park, Borisova Garden, Doctor's Garden, Vrana Park-Museum.
