Bulgaria Air has signed a codeshare partnership with Qatar Airways
The national carrier Bulgaria Air has signed a codeshare partnership agreement with Qatar Airways airline which has been named the best air carrier in the world for 2019 at the prestigious World Airline Awards. The agreement will provide Bulgaria Air clients with a fast and convenient connection to all five continents on the destinations of the Qatar airline. From today, February 17, 2020, anyone can buy their ticket; the first partnership flights start on March 2.
There is also a great advantage for the passengers from the Black Sea cities Varna and Bourgas. Thanks to the partnership now they will have the opportunity to take advantage of Qatar Airways diverse destination network with one airline ticket and a stopover in Sofia and Doha.

The partnership with Qatar Airways is another step towards enriching the portfolio of destinations of the Bulgarian national carrier. Since the beginnings of 2020 Bulgaria Air has announced two new direct flights to St. Petersburg and Valencia. Over the past 2019, through partnerships with Air Baltic and Condor, the airline passengers can now reach the heart of the Baltic region (Riga, Vilnius and Tallinn) as well as the exotic Punta Cana and Cancun.
Bulgaria Air is the largest Bulgarian airline and national carrier of the Republic of Bulgaria. It performs direct flights to 25 cities in Europe, including domestic flights to Varna and Bourgas. In 2019 the airline won for the second time the big award – “Most preferred airline on the Bulgarian market” at the prestigious annual Sky Awards 2019, as well as the award “Most preferred airline for short and medium flights to/from Bulgaria” (Sky short/middle haul).
Qatar Airways first entered the Bulgarian market on September 22, 2011, when it launched flights to and from Sofia four times a week. Over the years, due to the strong passenger demand, the frequency has increased to 14 flights a week.
Award-winning, Qatar Airways has been named the “Best airline in the world” at the 2019 World Airline Awards, managed by Skytrax, an international airline rating agency. The airline was also named the “Best airline in the Middle East”, and also won the “Best business class in the world” and the” Best business class seat” awards. It is the only airline to receive the special Skytrax “Airline of the year” award five times – a recognition for great achievements in the airline industry.
Qatar Airways currently operates a modern fleet of more than 250 aircrafts through its hub – the Hamad international airport (HIA), to more than 170 destinations worldwide. Until the end of 2020 the airline will add a number of exciting new destinations to its growing network, including Osaka (Japan), Santorini (Greece), Dubrovnik (Croatia), Almaty and Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan), Accra (Ghana), Cebu (The Philippines), Lion (France), Trabzon (Turkey), Siem Reap (Cambodia) and Luanda (Angola).
