Captain Pavlin Yordanov talks about the types of turbulence in an interview with the newspaper 24 hours
An expert interview with Captain Pavlin Yordanov, a long-time pilot of the Bulgaria Air team and commander of an Airbus A320 from the national carrier's air fleet, was published in an article of the newspaper 24 hours, dedicated to security measures in civil aviation and flight safety.
In his interview for the national print media Captain Yordanov discussed what the types of turbulence exist and how pilots deal with them during flights. He said that professional pilots are guided by full weather forecasts and satellite images of the route and rely on the aircraft's meteo radars. The radars allow pilots to visualize both the position and vertical structure of clouds along the flight path and avoid them in a timely manner according to established rules. In the preparation, planning and execution of each flight, careful analysis of the meteo forecasts is an essential part of the chief pilot's job.
In his interview, Airbus A320 commander Pavlin Yordanov urged passengers to always use their seat belts in their seats - even when the seat belt warning light is not on. This will significantly reduce the risks of turbulence on their journey. He reminded media readers that aviation remains the most reliable and safest transport.
