On Wednesday, Bulgaria Air Welcomed its Fifth Airbus A220 Aircraft and the First Aircraft of the A220-100 Model
In the early hours of 11 September, the airline welcomed its fifth Airbus A220 aircraft, which landed at Sofia Airport from the manufacturer's factory in Canada. The aircraft, which will fly medium-haul on the national carrier's international and domestic destinations, is of the more compact A220-100 modification. Its on-board allocation is 8 business class seats and 110 economy class seats. Its registration is LZ-LIS, traditionally dedicated to a major European city, in this case the Portuguese capital Lisbon.
The Airbus A220 aircraft type offers the largest windows in its class compared to other single-aisle aircraft, as well as wider seats in economy class, providing more privacy and a comfortable in-flight experience. The aircraft has a spacious and quiet passenger cabin with new modular lighting, an adaptive air conditioning system and optimised hand luggage compartments with the largest capacity in the category. The new addition to the national carrier's LZ-LIS fleet will provide its passengers with all of the listed on-board amenities and extras.
"L-LIS is among the first airlines in Europe to order seven Airbus A220 passenger aircraft in two modifications - A220-100 and A220-300. The delivery of the first 4 larger Airbus A220-300 aircraft in Bulgaria started in June 2023 and now the first Airbus A220-100 has arrived. The air fleet of the national carrier is being renewed with much more modern, more environmentally friendly and economical aircraft that use up to 25% less fuel and emit a reduced amount of harmful emissions. The aircraft also have up to 50% smaller noise footprint, making them suitable for airports in urban areas.
The national carrier aims to provide its passengers with the best and most comfortable conditions for pleasant flights with its modern Airbus A220 aircraft, which it operates on its scheduled routes from 2023.
