The national carrier operates the first Bulgarian flight to the sunny island of Madagascar
At the very end of the year, in these cold autumn days, the charter programme of the national carrier added another exotic destination for brave adventurers – the charming African island of Madagascar.
The first Bulgarian flight to the Republic of Madagascar was commanded by Captain Ivaylo Kanchovski and the passengers of the airline travelled on board of the comfortable Airbus A320 which took off from Sofia at 6 am on 25 November. Bulgaria Air’s plane landed on the warm island at 5:30 pm, local time, on the same date, receiving a ceremonial water salute at the airport. In the occasion of the very first Bulgarian flight to the African island, the Bulgarian crew and the passengers were officially welcomed in person by the Minister of Tourism of Madagascar, Mr. Joël Randriamandanto, together with the governor of the Airport Region. Bulgaria's Honorary Consul in Madagascar Ms. Stefana Sbirkova was also part of the official delegation who congratulated the pilot and the cabin crew for the excellent work.
The welcoming ceremony for the aircraft of the national carrier was extremely exuberant and created a genuine atmosphere of celebration, while passengers were delighted by the treatment they received by the locals. After a sunny, peaceful and very relaxing 7-day stay on Madagascar, the organised trip, part of the charter programme, brought the tourists home, landing in Sofia on 2 December.
During the winter months, many Bulgarians have the opportunity to experience the exotic atmosphere of the fourth biggest island in the world, discover its hidden treasures, and enjoy a lovely holiday with pleasant sunny weather. All this, thanks to Bulgaria Air and its partnering tour operators.
