New Conditions for Transporting Dogs to the US from 1 August 2024
Dear passengers,
We would like to inform you that the US health authorities are introducing new requirements for travel to their country for passengers with dogs due to the threat of the spread of canine rabies, which come into force on 1 August 2024.
The requirements apply to all passengers travelling with a dog (in the cabin or in baggage compartments) to the United States of America, regardless of the airline and transfer airport they use to begin their trans-oceanic flight. The changes to the conditions for air transport of dogs to the United States apply to all types of animals on board aircraft, including service dogs and guide dogs.
The new dog transport restrictions imposed on all airlines by US health authorities will apply to travel for a period of 3 months from 1 August. Before preparing for your dog's travel, which is now only allowed for animals over 6 months of age, you must complete the form provided by the US authorities at this link. If your dog is between 6 months and 1 year of age, you must complete this form at least 15 days prior to the flight date.
On the day of your departure, you must present a digital or paper receipt of the completed form at check-in for your flight and to airport authorities.
If you do not comply with the requirements set forth by the state administration at the Center for Disease Control (CDC), we regret to inform you that you will be denied boarding with your dog for a flight to the U.S. at both the departure and transfer airports. Please note that if a passenger is denied boarding on a trans-oceanic flight due to failure to comply with all regulations imposed by the U.S. health authorities, he/shr will be responsible and liable for all costs of re-routing, rebooking on a subsequent flight, hotel accommodations, transportation costs, personal or vet costs if necessary for his/her pet, and return to the point of departure.
