Pilot Alexander Bogoyavlenski talks about Bulgaria Air's new Airbus A220 aircraft
Just a few days ago the national carrier welcomed its seventh brand new Airbus A220-300 aircraft with registration LZ-OSL, which arrived directly from the production base in Montreal, Canada.
"This is the most advanced short- and medium-haul passenger aircraft in the civil aviation market. The basis of the other aircraft is quite old technology, which is being upgraded thanks to the entry of new technologies," the pilot of Bulgaria Air, Alexander Bogoyavlenski, said on Monday on the Bulgaria in the Morning programme.
He was co-pilot on board the new Airbus A220-300 during the inbound flight from the North American factory, which landed on March 15 at the home base in Sofia. In addition to his work as a pilot for the airline, Bogoyavlenski is a longtime aviation journalist and host of the Avioshowprogram on Bulgaria ON AIR.
"The fuel economy is 20% better than similar aircraft. It is a development of the new century. The aircraft was developed in Canada. There is quite a lot of composite in this aircraft, which provides less weight and better fuel consumption. It has a new generation engine," Bogoyavlenski explained in the morning block on air.
He said there is no danger of artificial intelligence replacing pilots, but aviation uses automation - for many of the processes that would put more strain on pilots. Computers control speeds, fuel flow and other parameters, while the commander and co-pilot in the cockpit monitor processes, interact with systems, make decisions and take responsibility during the flight.

Alexander Bogoyavlenski has prepared a special video material with interesting information for the TV viewers, related to the first flight of the aircraft from the production base in Canada, which will soon be aired on the Airshow program .
