New temporary travel restrictions due to COVID-19
Temporary travel restrictions due to COVID-19:
- Non EU citizens/third country citizens and their family members are temporarily not allowed to enter Bulgaria.
- persons travelling from Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and United Kingdom of Great Britain and Nothern Ireland.
This does not apply to Bulgarian citizen’s members of the families of Bulgarian citizens and persons with a Permanent and Long-term Residents’ Status on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria, as well as members of their families.
The following exceptions also apply to:
- Health care specialists
- Aircrews
- Humanitarian and military missions representatives – diplomats and international organizations representatives
TRANSIT passage is allowed through the territory of Republic of Bulgaria to:
- EU citizens and Schengen citizens (including San Marino, Andorra, Monaco and Vatican) and members of their families in order to return to the state which they live or reside.
- Non EU citizens/third country citizens with a Permanent residency in another EU country or Schengen country (including San Marino, Andorra, Monaco and Vatican).
- Citizens of Serbia, Republic of North Macedonia, Montenegro and Turkey (visa requirements apply please check Timatic) in order to get back to the country of their citizenship.
