New UK entry rules come into force from 2 April 2025
Dear travellers,
We would like to inform you that from April 2025 there will be a change to the UK entry rules for all visitors. As part of the transformation and digitisation of borders, the UK is introducing an Electronic Travel Authorisation /ETA/ scheme.
Travellers who do not need a visa to visit the UK, including Bulgarians as EU citizens, will need to apply in advance for an Electronic Travel Authorisation to enter the country after 2 April 2025.
The authorisation is valid for 2 years or until the expiry date of the traveller's passport, whichever is earlier, and applies to multiple trips to the UK within that period.
Applications can be made from 5 March 2025. The application process is quick and straightforward, with most applicants receiving a response within three working days or sooner. If the application is successful a digital travel permit will be issued. The cost of the ETA is GBP 10.
The procedure for applying for a UK digital travel permit and information on how to apply for such a permit can be found HERE.
